About Valeria Duca
I started my career at an early age. During my first years I was absorbed with the abstract world of colour and fantasy.
At 12 years old I had the first opportunity to share this imaginary world with the public, during a personal exhibition held at the Museum of History and Archaeology of Republic of Moldova.
Although it all started as a childhood game, I soon felt a sense of duty to continue creating, to explore, to exhibit and to challenge. My focused changed in time towards more figurative works and I am currently most interested in painting portraits and exploring aspects of identity.
"I believe in the necessity of art. I have to. I believe in the necessity of self-expression. I believe life is a continuous journey of self-discovery. I believe that to define is to limit. I believe real freedom lies with honesty. I believe our culture marks us, as well as every interaction with the world. These beliefs drive me to create, motivate me in a quest for truth and give me the courage to face it."
