The painting "Enduring love" is from Parr's series The intelligence of feeling with the title borrowed from Ian McEwan's book of loss and love.
This series, whilst drawing on scape, is primarily defined by emotion and feeling. The artist continues to explore the balance of chance and control during the painting process, whilst remembering and considering, love, absence, time, distance, vulnerability, difficulty, loss and the notion of sometimes feeling lost..... the human condition.
Parr continues to explore the balance of chance and control during the painting process using oil, charcoal and acrylic, with pallet knife, brush cloth and sponge, building up layers and washing away in a process that becomes as important to remove as to add, a reverberation of relationship with the canvas of addition and subtraction, push and pull, where she intends to create something that is ambiguous, chimerical, organic and elemental.
Signed and dated on the side of the canvas the painting is ready to hang. The canvas is deep edged which shows small signs of the working process to the canvas side.
