About Claus Gawin
Claus Gawin (born in 1950) is an Contemporary Artist, living and working in Copenhagen. His style is largely about color mixture and non-stop movement, and the strong way he spreads the painting all around the canvas. Superb expression and total intervention by him.
Claus Gawin: "Many of my paintings are inspired by a trip to the Wadden Sea National Park in 2009 and 2015. I am fascinated by the still water and the perspective it provides between water and sky."
Claus likes to paint with lots of heavy impasto brush-work, using the texture of the paint to communicate form and movement, instead of relying only on color and shape to tell a story. He paints wet-on-wet with fast, bold strokes, and he never layers or works the paint once it is on the canvas. This creates a wonderful spontaneous feel to his paintings. His vivid underpaintings create a glow and gleam to his paintings that catch the eye immediately. Claus Gawin believes that art should always be pushing the boundaries into something new and exciting, the artists themselves constantly experimenting with new techniques and new ways to capture that elusive beauty called "nature." An artist should never become comfortable and predictable in his or his style, but always be fighting to improve.
About my Art: The best part? It’s all a grand experiment. I am happier knowing that.
